Monitoring of Seabed Biological Community, Sydney Tar Ponds Remediation Project. Dillon Consulting Ltd. 2009.
Assessed the soft-bottom animal community of Sydney Harbour as input to environmental monitoring for the remediation of the former Sydney Tarponds.
Benthic and Contaminant Monitoring—Strait of Canso Ocean Disposal Site. Environment Canada. 2004-2005.
Designed monitoring program and carried out sediment sampling for contaminants and toxicology, as well as analysis of benthic invertebrate communities, at the Strait of Canso common user ocean disposal site and in nearby industrialized and reference areas.
Ballast Water Management Guidelines and Database of Marine Invasive Species in Areas of Operations by the Canadian Navy (MARLANT). SNC-Lavalin. 2002-2003.
Reviewed ballast water treatment approaches and invasive species issues, including compilation of a database and regional fact sheets of marine invasive species potentially encountered around the world in Canadian naval operations.
Underwater Video Interpretation for PWGSC Projects in New Brunswick. Dillon Consulting. 2007-2009.
Interpreted and mapped seabed communities in underwater video taken in several New Brunswick harbours (White Head Harbour, Blacks Harbour, and Seely’s Cove) proposed for works such as dredging.
Underwater Photography and Video Surveys of Minas Passage. Minas Basin Pulp & Power Co. Ltd. & Fundy Ocean Research Centre for Energy. 2008-2009.
Drop-camera surveys of the seabed for interpretation of seabed geology and benthic community distribution, used for site selection for experimental berths and cable routes for Nova Scotia’s tidal power demonstration facility.
Biological Analysis of Seabed Organisms for Monitoring Offshore Hydrocarbon Production and Development. 1995-present.
Identified and analysed biological communities in seabed samples collected for environmental monitoring of offshore hydrocarbon production facilities in Newfoundland and Nova Scotia. Clients included: Hibernia Management and Development Company Limited; Jacques Whitford Environment Limited; and Arenicola Marine.
Offshore Baseline Data Collection Assessment and Management. Sable Island Offshore Energy Project. 1997.
Designed and carried out a sampling program to collect information on seabed biological communities and contaminants on Sable Island Bank in the vicinity of proposed well sites as a basis for EEM design. The project included analysis of composition and abundance of biological communities, assessment of statistical properties of data, and maintenance of a computer database of biological and chemical data.
Seabed Biological Communities at the Site of the Irving Whale. Environment Canada. 1998.
Assessed biological species composition and community structure to determine whether adjacent communities had been impacted by the presence of the Irving Whale and its subsequent salvage.
Identification of Marine Organisms for Environmental Effects Monitoring at Canadian Pulp Mills. Various clients. 1994-1999.
Sample analysis, verification of species, and provision of ecological information on key species found in studies to assess the impacts of pulp mills in Atlantic Canada and Québec.
Seabed Sampling and Biological Community Analysis of Saint John Harbour and the Black Point Ocean Dumpsite. Environment Canada, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. 1992-1993.
Sampled sediments for contaminants, physical characteristics and seabed animal communities at 60 stations in Saint John Harbour and environs. The study analyzed animal communities to determine distribution, biological measures, and relationships with sediments and dredge material.
